Working life is taking up most of the time,
So blog would be mainly about work.
YT would know what I mean...

Using AutoCAD is becoming an artform,
Given that my snaps are almost always off,
Resulting in a lot of strange measurements,
Like 5098.3209 or 1550.1112,
Missing Microstation V8 is pretty reasonable.

...

I guess every single self-respecting architecture firm,
Would be participating in the competition,
For the new Singapore National Art Gallery.

Flipped through some KPF publications today,
For some inspirations on design and details,
And I realised I do miss the working atmosphere in London.
Despite the self-reminder of some unhappy incidents,
I believe I will be there again some day,
Hopefully soon.

Niki played a song from her MP3 collection,
Over the stereo system during work.

J: Wah I didn't know you listen to Jay Chou.
N: Huh?
J: Isn't this Jay Chou?
N: No, this is 'Her Space Holiday'.
J: No way! The intro is exactly the same!

Compare the following:
The Weight of The World by Her Space Holiday,
And 以父之名 (performed by Jay Chou).

So it seems like one of these 'Asian music genius',
Has completely ripped off,
The first few seconds of the music arrangement,
From the indie side of the Western world again.

A simple internet search,
Showed that the arrange for the latter,
Has even won an award for his works.

It's no wonder that Albert Einstein once said,

The secret to creativity,
Is knowing how to hide your sources.

I love the breeze when I am riding,
But I wish I had a bike that isn't so noisy!

There was a crazy traffic jam along Upper Thomson Road,
When I was on my way to work.
The strange thing about congestions,
Is that there isn't really a reason most of the time -
Once you pass a certain spot,
All the traffic seems to clear,
Making you wonder why you went through all the pain,
Of moving and stopping.

Yeah I haven't been actively squeezing,
Though it is already much better than day 1.
I have successfully navigated through,
592 vehicles stuck in the traffic jam...
Alright, I was kidding about the count.
Of course I do not count!
Despite the earlier successful squeezes,
I am still slow and unsteady.
Best exemplified by this evening,
When I brushed into a car's side mirror.
"Brush" is rather optimistic,
When you heard a loud "piak" sound.
Uh, I just trotted away...
Sorry, car driver.

Been riding slightly actively for about a week.
Did I already mentioned that my bike,
Which I borrowed from my uncle,
Is twenty-four years old ?!
And yes of course it is an 'uncle' bike.
The speedometer doesn't work properly,
The fuel gauge is broken,
The fuel tank has been sprayed grey by my uncle himself,...
But I should be grateful,
For he is as good as giving his bike to me.

It is fantastic to bike to work,
Because it saves me so much travel time.
I just have to get used to the idea,
Of having to focus on my way to work,
Instead of sleeping or reading.

I am a road hog for a biker.
I don't squeeze through traffic as much as I should,
I don't weave in and out between vehicles,
I take up the middle of a single lane for my own use.
Yes I know everyone must be laughing their ass off.
I always keep away from the taxis and heavy vehicles.

Today a huge truck sped past me,
And I actually felt the tremor from the wind,
Despite it being in the next lane.

I am starting to believe,
That I actually prefer driving.

Work is busy but the atmosphere is relaxing,
And the super ulu location,
Makes the journey to work,
Somewhat like a pilgrimage to a chalet.
Especially with the fridge full of snacks.
(Although I have only ate some chocolates.)

This very hot and humid afternoon,
Lady boss made lemon tea for everyone,
And when I realised it was squashed lemon,
I also realised that I do enjoy people,
That make you feel as if you are working with them,
Rather than working for someone senior.

Nice.

The first day of work.

I missed the oh-so-rare shuttle bus from Bouna Vista,
So I waited half an hour for the next 191.
Hence instead of being on time,
I was about half an hour late.
After taking a long walk from the bus stop to the Gaza,
I turned the knob of the door,
Which had styrofoam white alphabets saying "This is Lekker.",
Only to find it locked.
I was late,
But I was the earliest.

So I sat on the staircase for about an hour,
Receiving strange looks from the yogalites,
Turning up for lessons at our neighbour's yogashala.
Germain came to open the door,
Almost as my patience ran dry.
Turned out that bosses were at a meeting,
And the girl who usually does opening,
Had taken an emergency leave.

Other than this small booboo,
All seems to be going rather smooth at work.
Oh wait,
There is one other rusty thing that needs oiling -
My AutoCAD skills.
