Met Adri and Z for dinner at Plaza Singapura,
Then we went for a cuppa at Menotti,
Where A bumped into a friend who was with a gal friend,
Who turned out to be a girl on my primary 6 trip to KL.
We did the usual namecard swopping
- I still have about 300 Lekker namecards to giveaway -
But it was still a surprise that someone recognises me,
After about 15 years.
Phwah.

While waiting for the bus home,
I got a text from Audrey T who was at Emerald Hill,
So I decided to meet her instead of going home,
Since I haven't met her for almost one year.
Had a fab time catching up,
All the way from Emerald Hill to Club Street.

The clearest thing in my head now,
Is my conversation with the cab driver who drove me home:
"Don't put so much pressure on yourself,
Just do your best and see what happens;
Afterall I am sure parents just want their children,
To be truly happy with their lives."

I hope that he is right.

I've not read a book so quickly in my life for the longest time.
I started it while waiting at Pu Dong aiport yesterday,
For my delayed flight to take off,
And I finished it today when I came home from work.

It was amazingly cheap in China (where books are dirt cheap),
Which actually means that I had to read it in Chinese.
Brilliant brilliant thing.
Presenting Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys.

I'm going to run out to grab more of his books soon,
With the gift card I got from Celine for my birthday.

Will write about Shanghai when I'm feeling less tired.

The way my conversations go in the office,
Reminds me of the time I was in Primary 2.

Whenever I asked my English teacher a question,
The then-Miss Ng always answered with,
"Keep quiet and sit down! Shut up!".
It took me some time to realise,
That she didn't have the capability,
To provide the solutions to my questions.

Nowdays I get the response:
"Where got people ask this kind of questions one?"
"Huh, how to answer this kind of quetions?"
This time, I think it is that they either don't know,
Or simply don't care.

Although I didn't want this to be a special day,
(as expectations come with great disappointments),
The way this birthday turned out,
Was the way I least wanted or expected.

The first birthday I spent in Singapore,
Ever since year 2003,
Ended up being filled with arguments,
With the two virgo women in my life.
Seperately, thankfully.

Now one seems to be snubbing me,
As she has yet to reply any text messages;
The other one is watching TV,
And has ignored my attempt to make conversation.

"Happy Birthday" now seems like oxymoron,
But in fact,
It is total rubbish.

After a small talk with the directors on Friday,
We came to a mutual conclusion -
My last day working in the firm,
Shall fall on the last day of June,
As stipulated in my contract.

An ex-classmate from Los Angeles,
Had started emailing me a few days ago,
Enthusiastically telling me about a job vacancy,
For lighting design in the USA.
I have to think hard about this one:
The firm is very commercial;
The money is just alright.
But it is indeed too early to count my eggs.

Anyway I will be free (and poorer),
Starting from July onwards.
Freelance gigs for me, anyone?

A simple message for Celine:
I am so glad you are not a skincell on Jay Chou,
But the friend whom I have shared my growing up years with.
Happy Birthday!
