Yesterday night,
I told my Mom I wanted to become a man.
I was surprised how it was so easy,
Then I woke up.
Yes, I was dreaming again.
* * *
While you were away,
All your friends grew up.
From those girlish giggles and awkward outfits,
To those delicately plucked eyebrows,
And smiles packed with feminine charm.
From those loose T shirts and baggy jeans,
To neat suits and shirts, and sometimes ties.
It seems like it has only been awhile,
But somehow
Somehow
Everyone grew to become
The man or woman they wanted to be.
Everyone else.
